I just posted the third article of a five-part series by Tony Chukes. In all of his articles in the series, his goal is to help us White people in the church gain insight into a Black Disciple’s world, especially in a setting where most of his fellow church members are White. I believe Tony speaks for many of our Black fellow Christians and we who are White need to listen and then dialogue as Tony requests. In this article, Tony describes his world using a baseball analogy, which works well since he is a baseball umpire. It will be an eye-opener and prayerfully, a heart-opener.

Different Worlds by Tony Chukes (Blog 66) Have you ever had the talk with your kids? No, not that talk. How about being stared at by the store security from the minute you walk into a department store...
I just posted the second in a five-part series by Tony Chukes in which he addresses from a Black Disciple’s perspective what not only his world looks like and feels like, but especially from the vantage point of a Black person in a church with a majority White membership. I believe Tony speaks for many of our Black fellow Christians and we who are White need to listen and then dialogue as Tony requests. That will necessitate leaving our comfort zones, which is exactly what this article addresses. ![]()
Tony especially describes one of the main ways we often excuse not engaging in dialogue – hiding behind the claim that racial issues are too often political issues and that as Christians, we should keep politics out of the church. Here’s the link. See what you think.

What’s Comfort Got To Do With It? by Tony Chukes (Blog 65) Let me first address this notion that race is a political issue, and so we can’t talk about it. That is one of the most asinine statement...
As promised, I just posted the first article of a five part series by Tony Chukes on my racial topics blogsite. I introduced this series in my last blog post on this site and now I will post Tony's series one at a time. Both Tony and I understand that the reactions to his very direct and honest articles are going to be quite varied, with some people feeling that they are not appropriate and others saying, "About Time!" ![]()
Those who respond in the first way will be mostly White and those who respond in the second way will be mostly Black. As a White person, I do not assume I understand everything about what the Black person's world looks like, although I have learned much about it from those of color. What I definitely don't assume is what that world feels like. Therefore, I am more than willing to let friends like Tony speak for themselves. Here's the link.

Don’t Make Me Go Richard Pryor! by Tony Chukes (Blog 64) Many of you don’t know who Richard Pryor is and the ones who do are thinking he was dirty and inappropriate for Christian consumption. I’...
