FLUMMOXED!I have to admit that I am a bit flummoxed about the sales of my two recent books. The one on the Bible and women has sold hundreds of copies, while the one about my roller coaster ride with God and cancer has sold few. Yet, the second is such an ideal gift book for those with cancer or who have loved ones with cancer. Here is why I say this. One, my vulnerable depiction of my own journey helps people understand that varied and extreme emotional swings are normal, especially when they are at the subconscious level until something pushes them to the surface. Two, so much in the book is about God – how we often view him and how we should learn to view him. Three, aside from the many important lessons about the spiritual life generally, essential lessons are found about how to come into a saved relationship with Jesus in the first place, complete with many Scriptures quoted in print. This book is an ideal gift book for many reasons, and these are but a few. I wrote this book to provide serious help for those dealing with cancer from any vantage point and it will provide that -- IF -- it is read. Giving it as a gift could help preserve a loved one’s emotional health and might well help save them spiritually.

Everyone reading this either has cancer or has someone they care about dealing with cancer. If you want to understand what those dealing with it are feeling and facing, you should read this book. It will not only help you in ways you won’t understand until you read it, but it will make you a better helper to those who are dealing with it now. Tom Jones and Jeanie Shaw, two of my most valued advisors, strongly advised me to publish it. They must believe that it is needed, and I trusted their advice. I hope you will too.

In Luke 9:23, Jesus said, “Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross daily and follow me.” I have always said that my two biggest root sins are pride and selfishness. Denying self is always a huge challenge for me. The experiences I describe in my latest book when I thought I was likely going to die have helped me deal with my selfishness better than anything ever has – anything, ever! If denying self is your challenge as well, this book will definitely help you. I promise.
