North Texas where I live is now in the beginning stages of a dangerous ice storm. Reading about it reminded me of a very similar one that hit us almost exactly four years ago. That one I remember well, because it was a part of my early cancer journey. I describe it in Chapter Three of my book, “My Roller Coaster Ride with God and Cancer.” ![]()

Of all the books I have written, that one has sold the least copies. I am shocked at that fact, considering how common cancer is, affecting each of our lives in fairly direct ways. I have the names of 31 people with cancer on my prayer list, four of whom were added recently. ![]()

In contemplating the approaching ice storm, I just reread that chapter in my book. It, and the rest of the chapters, have so many practical and helpful spiritual insights in them that it is sad to me that more people don’t take advantage of it. If you or a loved one close to you has cancer, you really should consider reading the book. You won’t be sorry.![]()

The Christmas season has been called “The most wonderful time of the year,” and for many people, thankfully, it is just that. However, for many other people, it is almost the opposite. It may be the first Christmas season observed since the loss of a loved one. It may be a time when we are separated from loved ones and loneliness strikes us and strikes us hard. It may be a time when we are already facing a challenge or even a major crisis, and the supposed joy we are supposed to be feeling produces guilt to remind us how far we have fallen from our dreams. ![]()

If anything like these potential “downsides” of Christmas described here are true of you, you may be in a precarious position and are considering behaviors you have rejected up until now. Perhaps you are already in the midst of trying them out. If so, I strongly recommend that you read an article I have just posted on my teaching website entitled, “A Line That Cannot Be Walked.” If you need it, read it. If you know others that need it, share it with them. I pray that you do indeed experience the most wonderful time of the year, but if you are at the other end of the spectrum or know those who are, may my article provide food for thought and protection from falling into the devil’s chasm. ![]()

As stated in another post earlier today, my books, whether published by Amazon or Illumination Publishers, were removed from Amazon for a couple of months due to some technicalities, which have now been resolved. Someone recently asked which of my over twenty published books has sold the most copies and which has sold the least. Oddly, my fairly recent book, “My Roller Coaster Ride with God and Cancer,” has sold the least. Given the fact that cancer is so prevalent among our friends and family members, I am puzzled that folks seem reluctant to read my book. Rest assured that this is not a book about cancer per se, but about lessons learned and insights gained from having it (and surviving it)! When you are seriously contemplating meeting your Maker, the lessons and insights gained should be expected to be some of the most valuable possible. I believe mine are. Get the book and read it – you won’t be sorry!
